Broad Peak is so named for the breadth of its top, but the locals call it Falchan Kangri. The height of the main peak is 8,047 m/26,401 ft. It has also been called the enormously triple-headed Breithorn (4,165 m high three-headed peak of the European Alps) of the Baltoro. More than 3150 meters ascent from the base camp on West Spur and North Ridge is on the scrambling weaves of snow and rock to the crest of the Spur. The route beyond is entirely on the glacier with occasional ice walls over 7500 meters. A well-defined route leads from the Col at 7800 to the summit.
An Austrian Expedition led by Marcus Schmuck reached the summit through West Face and North Ridge` without using oxygen on June 9, 1957. The successful climbers were; Marcus Schmuck, Fritz Wintersteller, Kurt Diemberger, and Hermann Buhl.

Touch down at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to your city hotel. This day is dedicated to rest, a welcome briefing to orient you to the program, and an opportunity to relax from your long flight.
Enjoy a full day in Islamabad for gear checks and logistical briefings. You’ll meet your liaison officer and expedition staff, finalize paperwork, and can even explore the bazaars of Rawalpindi if time allows.
Take a scenic one-hour charter flight to Skardu—weather permitting—or opt for a long but rewarding drive via Chilas (~10–12 hours). On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Skardu and begin acclimatising at altitude.
A free day in Skardu for final expedition preparations. Visit local markets, inspect gear, attend a safety briefing—and get a local sightseeing glimpse of Shangrila Resort or Satpara Lake if time allows.
Journey all day by jeep into the Karakoram, arriving at Askole — the last village before the Baltoro Glacier. You'll camp here, surrounded by wild mountain vistas, and ready for the trek ahead.
Begin trekking along river valleys and moraine trails toward Jhula, a modest yet scenic campsite. Expect around 5–6 hours of hiking as you transition into the glacier valley.
Continue a gradual climb to Paiju. This 6–7 hour day provides sweeping views: Baltoro South, Cathedral Towers, and in the distance the distinctive triangular face of K2.
Spend a day at Paiju acclimatising. You can take short walks around camp for added altitude adjustment, soak in the scenery, and allow your body to adapt.
Trek through rugged terrain for 9–10 hours to reach Urdukas. The trail climbs through lateral moraine and glacial debris, offering increasing glimpses of Trango Towers, Uli Biaho, and Paiyu Peak.
Navigate glacial terrain across some crevassed sections to reach Goro II camp after about 7–8 hours. You'll camp amid the ice flows of the Baltoro Glacier surrounded by rugged peaks.
This 5–6 hour trek leads you to Concordia — the famed “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods.” Marvel at vistas including K2, Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, and Mustagh Tower as you set camp.
A shorter approach (≈2–3 hours) brings you to the Broad Peak base camp. Here your high-altitude expedition truly begins — acclimatisation rotations and camp logistics are underway.
Over these 30+ days, you will rotate between base camp and high camps — progressively climbing to Camps I, II, III, IV. Weather and your fitness will determine summit attempts. Rest, training, and preparation fill these crucial days.
Once summit efforts conclude, break down base camp and begin your descent back to Goro II. Today’s trek requires 8–9 hours across glacial terrain to re‑occupy Goro II camp.
Descending through the Baltoro moraines for another 7–8 hours takes you to Khuburtse camp. Enjoy progressively milder temperatures and return toward inhabited valleys.
Continue down to Paiju in about 6 hours. The landscape becomes greener, and streams appear as your altitude lowers — recovery begins in earnest.
A 7‑hour walk on gentler terrain brings you back to Jhula. This is a comfortable descent day, with chance to reflect on your achievement.
This final trekking leg lasts about 4 hours before returning to Askole village. Overnight in tents or simple lodgings—civilization returns.
A long but scenic drive through Shigar Valley returns you to Skardu. You’ll enjoy hotel comfort, warm meals, showers—and your first low‑altitude evening in weeks.
Take an aerial journey back to Islamabad —weather permitting—or drive via Chilas. You’ll stay in a hotel and relax after descent.
Reserved for weather delays or travel adjustments—this day gives flexibility and buffer in your schedule.
Wrap up your expedition with a final debrief at the Ministry of Tourism, say your goodbyes, and depart from Islamabad International Airport with memories of a lifetime.
The option of taking a flight to Skardu after arrival in Islamabad on day 1 is possible depending upon the arrival time of international flight.
If the flight operates for Skardu on day 2, drive to Askole on day-4 is possible to gain an extra day for climbing/acclimatisation
