Gasherbrum II or K4, the last peak in eight-thousand-meter ranking, is situated on the North West of Baltoro Glacier, just besides Hidden Peak. Having spectacular neighborhood of K2, Gasherbrum I, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum IV, Chogolisa and Golden Throne, Gasherbrum II attracts big number of alpinists every year. It is an ideal peak to start high mountain climbing. The climb is not as difficult as Hidden Peak but still considered a worthy experience. Initial climb up to camp I has many crevasses.

Your international flight lands at Islamabad International Airport. You’ll be warmly welcomed by your expedition coordinator and transferred to your hotel. This day is devoted to rest, gear check, and an expedition orientation briefing over dinner. Prepare mentally and physically for the journey ahead.
Weather permitting, enjoy a scenic ~1‑hour flight to Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan with aerial views of Nanga Parbat and K2. If the flight is canceled, travel via the Karakoram Highway over one to two days. Arrive in Skardu and rest at your lodge to adjust.
Spend the day acquiring or finalizing essential gear, packing, and attending formal permit briefings with authorities. Meet your climbing guides and support team. Finalize porter logistics and review acclimatisation strategies while sampling local Balti cuisine.
Board 4×4 jeeps for a rugged ~6–8 hour drive through Shigar Valley to Askole—the last inhabited village before entering the wild Karakoram wilderness. Camp in tents, meet local Balti porters, and absorb the valley’s stark beauty.
Begin trekking along the Braldu River and Baltoro Glacier, crossing suspension bridges and moraine fields. Camp at Jhula, the first glacial campsite, surrounded by towering ridges and spires.
Continue across glacier terrain with views of Cathedral Peak and Trango Towers emerging. Camp at Paiju, the scenic junction beneath the Baltoro Glacier’s snout—ideal for rest and acclimatisation.
Take a full recovery day. Short hikes around Paiju help adjust altitude. Porters prepare fresh bread, and you bond with the team while enjoying glacier views.
A longer trekking day across the Baltoro Glacier, framed by Uli Biaho, Trango Towers, and more. Camp at Khoburtse on the ice with dramatic mountain vistas.
A shorter but steeper trek leads to Urdukas—renowned for its stunning panoramic setting beneath granite spires. Ideal spot for scenic photographs and altitude adaptation.
Proceed glacially to Goro II, where you’ll first glimpse Gasherbrum IV and the mighty Broad Peak massif. Camp amidst high alpine terrain preparing for Concordia.
Reach the legendary Concordia—the confluence of Baltoro and Godwin-Austen Glaciers. Known as the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods,” it offers sweeping views of K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum II.
Final trek to the Gasherbrum II Base Camp located below Conway Saddle. Set up main base camp with tents, mess, and communication gear. Begin light acclimatisation hikes.
Train with roped gear practice, crevasse rescue drills, climbing briefings, and short hikes. Rotate around base camp to prepare supplies and physically adjust to altitude.
Establish intermediate camps: Camp I (~5,900 m), Camp II (~6,400 m), Camp III (~6,900–7,000 m). Perform several acclimatisation rotations (BC→Camps and back), caching supplies and gaining altitude exposure.
Return to Base Camp to rest, hydrate, recover. Monitor weather forecasts closely to identify a stable summit window. Final gear checks are completed.
Move upward from Base Camp to Camp III over successive days. Launch the summit bid pre-dawn from Camp III, climbing steep snow and ice via the Southwest Ridge. Reach the summit and enjoy panoramic views before descending back down.
Descend carefully through Camp II, Camp I, reaching Base Camp safely. Recover and celebrate your successful summit with the team in true expedition style.
Return on foot following the same glacial trail to Concordia. Enjoy the iconic views from a fresh perspective as you retrace the route.
Continue trekking to Goro II for another overnight camp. Reflect on the journey and revel in the high glacial environment.
Depending on pace, camp at Urdukas or Paiju tonight, immersing in the serene wilderness after reaching lower elevations.
Conclude the trekking section by reaching Askole. Transfer by jeep back to Skardu for reflection, comfort, and rest in town.
Fly or drive back to Islamabad. Attend debrief with the Ministry of Tourism and ATP team, ensuring all logistics and permits are concluded.
Enjoy a leisure day in the capital—visit sites like Faisal Mosque or local bazaars. Share experiences and attend a farewell dinner with the expedition team.
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport and depart with memories of an incredible high-altitude conquest.
The option of taking a flight to Skardu after arrival in Islamabad on day 1 is possible depending upon the arrival time of international flight.
